October 21, 2003 a fire started that would become known as the Grand Prix fire, October 25 another fire started in Waterman Canyon know as the Old Fire they soon merged into a huge fire that burned over 600 homes in San Bernardino county. The fire burned out of control for almost 2 weeks and burned up into the San Bernardino Mountains destroying hundreds of homes and thousands of acres of forests. In this conflagration a small community named Cedar Glen was nearly destroyed, over 300 homes in this community burned.

My interest in the community goes back to 1997 when I was working on the motion picture “The Parent Trap” in nearby Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. I had discovered this small community while exploring one weekend. My girlfriends sister and her family lived in Lake Arrowhead at the time, they now live in Lake Gregory which is between Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. Cedar Glen was a town of small cabins and modest year round homes that has a great feel. A lot of different people together makes for a great place to live.

The fire had come through Cedar Glen on October 30 at around 2 PM burning some houses to ground while the house next door is untouched, much like a tornado. What I wanted to do is to show the community as it now sits, the last 2 weeks of May 2004.
